1. Introduction This final project integrates three fundamental
dimensions
of contemporary sustainable tourism:
2. Digital Innovation: Creation of a technological solution that
addresses real challenges in the region.
3. Nature-Based Tourism: Development of a
sustainable, regenerative, and accessible product/experience.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: Development of a plan for
collaborative governance that ensures continuity,
legitimacy, and impact.
The proposal is anchored in the context of the Iberian Raia, with a
focus on the Castelo Branco – Raia – International Tagus/Tajo –
Vilar Formoso–Fuentes de Oñoro Eurocity axis, a region
where sustainable tourism, innovation, and
cross-border cooperation are strategic priorities.

• Fragmentation among Portuguese and Spanish stakeholders.

•Low level of digitization of tourism offerings.
• Lack of universal accessibility tools. • Need for low-impact
nature-based products.
• Lack of mechanisms for environmental and visitor monitoring.
• Absence of an integrated booking and management platform.

3. Core Problem The region has high potential for sustainable
tourism, but lacks digital integration, structured nature-based
products, and collaborative governance, resulting in low
competitiveness and a weak ability to attract visitors in a
sustainable manner.
4. General Objective: To create an integrated model of
sustainable tourism that combines technology, nature, and
governance, capable of generating environmental, social,
and economic impact in the region.

the combination of digital innovation, nature-based tourism, and
stakeholder engagement is essential for promoting
sustainable, competitive, and inclusive tourism. The proposal
contributes to the enhancement of the region, strengthens
cross-border cooperation, and positions the Iberian Border
Region and
Tejo–Tajo International as a European benchmark in
regional innovation. The project is applicable, scalable, and
aligned with European priorities for sustainability,
accessibility, and digital transformation, constituting a
solid foundation for actual implementation and future evolution.
